WELCOME TO
CPR STAIRCASES PTY LTD
CPR Staircases Pty Ltd, based in Newcastle, NSW, is a family-owned and operated business with a proud tradition of crafting high-quality Stairs , handrails , and balustrades. With over 75 years of combined experience, our team is dedicated to delivering workmanship that blends functionality, safety, and timeless design.
Founded by Rod and Bev Douglass, CPR Staircases began as a small operation with a vision: to create staircases that were not just structural necessities but features that enhanced the character of every home. What started in a modest backyard workshop has now grown into a modern, fully equipped manufacturing facility where tradition and innovation meet. Today, the business is owned and managed by siblings Craig and Nadene Douglass, who continue their parents’ legacy with the same passion and commitment.
A FAMILY LEGACY BUILT ON CRAFTSMANSHIP
The story of CPR Staircases is one of dedication and steady growth. Rod Douglass first entered the building industry in 1960, bringing with him an eye for detail and a desire to perfect his craft. By 1978, he had chosen to specialise in staircases, a decision that would shape the future of the family business. From those early years, Rod’s reputation for precision and reliability began to spread, allowing the company to expand.
Craig Douglass joined the business in 1987 as a carpentry and joinery apprentice, learning the trade from the ground up. His early years were spent on the tools, honing his technical knowledge and craftsmanship. Over time, Craig transitioned into a leadership role, overseeing projects and guiding apprentices much like he once was.
Nadene Douglass brought a different but equally vital skillset to the business. Joining in 1990, she took on a traineeship in administration, ensuring the company could operate smoothly as it continued to grow. Together, Craig and Nadene combine hands-on experience with strong organisational management, ensuring CPR Staircases continues to thrive in both workshop and office environments.

PASSION FOR DESIGN & FUNCTION
One of the things that sets CPR Staircases apart is our passion for combining design with function. Whether modern, traditional, architectural, or external, each design is carefully tailored to the client’s vision.
Our team has worked on a diverse range of projects over the years, from modest homes requiring simple, durable staircases to grand architectural builds demanding intricate curves and custom balustrading.
